On Friday 25th in the spectacular environs of St Mark’s Artspace, we welcomed the Ballads Of The Book collaborators Alasdair Roberts and Robin Robertson to share a stage for the very first time. The theme of the night was infused with a rich respect for new and often dark interpretations of the folk traditions and imagery which have such a profound effect on both artists.
In our short excerpt from Robin’s set, we include a few of his poems which concern music, starting off with a poem dedicated to Alasdair Roberts:
Alasdair is working with Robin again on another collaboration and we have the pleasure to including a recording of a few of these embryonic songs. Although the sound quality of the recording is not the best (it was great in the venue!) you certainly get a flavour of the splendid treats in store if you are lucky enough to hear Alasdair perform live.
Do check out Alasdair Robert’s website for news of new gigs and releases. And listen to more of Robin Robertson on his Poetry Archive page.
